WIN
The most popular of all bet types, requiring punters to select the horse they think will finish 1st in the race.

PLACE
Another popular bet type, requiring customers to select a runner to finish either 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the official placings. There must be more than 8 horses in a race to have a 3rd place dividend.

EACH-WAY
Each way betting simply means that you are putting an equal amount of money on a horse to Win and Place.

QUINELLA
A Quinella requires the punter to select the 1st and 2nd horses to finish, in any order.

EXACTA
An Exacta is similar to a Quinella except the punter has to select the first two horses home in order.

TRIFECTA
Trifectas are one of the most popular exotics, requiring punters to select the first three horses home in order. A boxed trifecta allows them to finish in any order but will cost more per 100% dividend.

FIRST 4
A First 4 is similar to a trifecta except customers have to select the first four horses in exact order. Again these can be boxed but the costs per unit will increase accordingly).
